"The conversation" or "Brainfart monologues?"

It seems there is a conversation going on somewhere. I don't really see a conversation I see a lot of people acting and reacting and thereby creating information. A conversation implies there is some sort of communication. I find this highly doubtful. Let's go to a definition of conversation:

Conversation:
1. informal interchange of thoughts, information, etc., by spoken words; oral communication between persons; talk; colloquy.
2. an instance of this.
3. association or social intercourse; intimate acquaintance.
4. criminal conversation.
5. the ability to talk socially with others: She writes well but has no conversation.
6. Obsolete.
a. behavior or manner of living.
b. close familiarity; intimate acquaintance, as from constant use or study.

Is there a conversation going on? Isn't it more of a herd? Or maybe even a flock? Sometimes this Twitter stuff, blogging, social media reminds me of the Gargoyles in the novel Snowcrash. I came up with this due to Vinnie Mirchandani's post. For me content is still king and search is queen. Those who know how to create and those who know how to search will always be in demand or in control. It doesn't matter if we're talking about books or about Twitter. The principle stays the same.

Since man started to truly communicat we have been on a virtuous spiral upwards regarding information. These technical toys will be mainstream for the world in about 20 years time, maybe even sooner. What does that mean? Women will use these tools different form men. ALready there are more women on social networks than men. What does it mean when non Westerners gain more and more access to these tools? Will they improve? In my opinion for example Facebook and MySpace are Crap. They are so user unfriendly. I think their succes stems highly from most people's inexperience with internet. This converation may have moved for the avant garde 0,1%, but most people never even have left a comment on a site.
