Google buys Motorola: Another arrow in the quiver

Our screens were not even recovered from the games on Google Plus announcement or Google does something new again. With the purchase of Motorola Google puts another arrow in the quiver in the battle for online dominance. The struggle is with Microsoft and Apple. These two veterans have worked together to keep Nortel's patents from the hands of Google. The deal is being researched at this time by the U.S. Department of Justicew if Microsoft and Apple are guilty of anti competitive measures.

The acquisition of Motorola gives Google access to patents which in turn can be shared with other manufacturers that use Android for their phones and tablets. These other manufacturers have also indicated that they are happy with the acquisition of Motorola by Google.

Google now is a direct competitor with Apple with a mobile operating system and with phones and tablets.Apple fights back by patent litigation against Android tablet manufacturers.Unfortunately, the evidence used in one of these cases was fictitious (Dutch site).

In short, there is no cucumber time in the tech world. This move reflects Google is serious about its business. Plus Google is a move against facebook. The purchase Motorola a move against Microsoft and Apple. The initiative for the world to move to the online cloud is clearly being defined by Google. What is Google's strategy and what will the countermoves be?
